Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Announces Conclusion in Criminal Investigation Surrounding Vehicle Collision in Chester Twp.

Acting Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp, Chief of Investigations John Speirs and Chief of Police Wayne Martini of the Chester Township Police Department announce the conclusion of the criminal investigation conducted by the Office of the Morris County Prosecutor and the Chester Township Police Department into the circumstances surrounding a head-on collision that occurred in Chester Township, New Jersey on February 12, 2013 on Route 206. The collision resulted in the death of an infant, who was born prematurely as a result of the collision.

The investigation revealed the conduct of Jason Mooney, age 39, of Flanders, New Jersey, who was operating a 2012 Chevrolet Express van which collided with the vehicle driven by the infant’s mother, did not rise to a level of criminal culpability necessary for any homicide prosecution. Motor vehicle offenses filed previously against Mooney shall be heard in due course in the Chester Township Municipal court.
