Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Chief Assistant Prosecutor Brad Seabury joined WMTR’s show, “Ask the Expert”, hosted by Jessie Frees on Sunday, September 15, 2019. Prosecutor Knapp and CAP Seabury have regularly appeared on the show to discuss the impact of illegal narcotics on the Morris County community.
On Sunday’s program, Prosecutor Knapp and CAP Seabury discussed contemporary law enforcement issues, including school violence, driving under the influence of narcotics, bullying, and bias crimes. Prosecutor Knapp highlighted the MCPO’s community outreach and education efforts.
The second half of the radio program addressed the current impact of the Opiate Epidemic on the County and highlighted the many successful efforts of Morris County Law Enforcement to combat the epidemic. They discussed the need for vigorous prosecutions of for-profit drug distributors but also highlighted the need to treat addiction as a disease and help guide individuals suffering from a substance abuse disorder into appropriate treatment. Also discussed on the program was Operation Helping Hand, a law enforcement program aimed at connecting heroin users with treatment after their arrest and the Morris County Narcan Program where 679 people have been given a second chance at life by the administration of Narcan by Morris County Law enforcement officers since Prosecutor Knapp began the program in 2015.
Prosecutor Knapp stated, “I want to thank Jesse for inviting us on her program to highlight the work of Morris County Law Enforcement, especially in combating the opioid epidemic. We continue to lose entirely too many of our neighbors to this plague and it is critical for us to provide information to the public to act as a prevention effort, but also to ensure people know there are avenues for treatment and help in our community. We again hope that residents of our county were able to tune in and receive this valuable information.”
