On November 20, 2019, Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Supervisor Patrick LaGuerre joined Deputy Attorney General Bryn Whittle for the Responding to Bias: New Jersey Steps Up! Panel at Kean University. The panel included members of the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness, New Jersey Judiciary, and New Jersey Attorney General’s Office Division on Civil Rights.
Hosted by the Division of Criminal Justice New Jersey Human Relations Council, the public panel was intended to educate the community about how to recognize and report bias incidents and bias crimes, and how law enforcement investigates such incidents. LaGuerre explored how communities can step up to bias and hate.
Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp said “The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office gladly joins the Office of the Attorney General in educating the public about bias incidents and bias crimes. We hope that by doing so, we can help eradicate hate crimes in New Jersey.”
