Human Remains Discovered in Roxbury, New Jersey

Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Roxbury Police Chief James Simonetti announce that human remains were found in a wooded area off of Route 46 in Roxbury, New Jersey.

This matter is presently under investigation.  As details are confirmed, updated reports will be issued. 

No further updates will be released today.


Body of Missing Person Stephen Marano Recovered

Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp has issued the following statement with regard to the investigation concerning Missing Person Stephen Marano.

“The body of Stephen Marano was recovered this afternoon in the vicinity of Miele Field in Chatham Township. No foul play or third party involvement is suspected at this time.

There is no concern for neighborhood safety.

There will be no further press notifications on this matter today.”

Missing Person Stephen Marano


Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp
announces that a search is underway for
Stephen Marano, Date of Birth, February 24, 1989.

On November 9, 2013 Stephen Marano, a Madison
resident was reported missing.

His vehicle was located near the Great Swamp
in Chatham Township.

He is described as a 24 year old white male,
approximately 5’9″, 150 pounds, with brown hair
and brown eyes.  He may have a close cut hair cut
or a shaved head. He was last reported to be wearing
dark pants and a dark colored sweatshirt.

A joint investigation is being conducted by the Madison
Police Department, the Chatham Township Police Department,
the New Jersey State Police, New Jersey Search and Rescue,
the Morris County Park Police and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.
